The Basics
Why Use the VoicePrint Portal™?Why use VoiceIt Technololgies’ VoicePrint Portal™ Solution? It’s very simple. Almost all fraudulent activities pertaining to personal information and corporate data is stolen from the client side computer, handheld device, or smartphone via malicious Spyware, Adware, Malware, Scumware, and a host of other sordid names (reports IDC and Jupiter Research). Most of this stolen information and data consists of user ID’s, account names, account numbers, social security numbers, passwords, pins, and address information. Once stolen, this personal information and corporate data can be used anywhere or anytime for fraudulent activities. So how do you stop or cut down on this fraudulent activity? The answer is to take away the personal information and corporate data on the client side, and never transmit or communicate it over the client side computers, handheld devices, or smartphones. This problem is what the VoicePrint Portal™ solution solves, by encrypting and storing this personal information and corporate data on a secure backend computer system. It is only accessed when authentication is required, and is never transmitted or communicated on the client side computers, handheld devices, or smartphones.
| How does it work? During the authentication process, the user inputs their VoicePrint Portal™ UserID and speaks their VoicePrint phrase (1). This information is then securely communicated via a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to the VoicePrint Portal™ (2). The VoicePrint Portal™ then securely communicates via SSL their personal information or corporate data to an Integration Partners backend computer system for authentication (3). After the authentication process, the VoicePrint Portal™ securely communicates via SSL to the client side and either grants or denies access (4), thus eliminating personal information and corporate data on the client side systems. It’s that simple. |

The VoicePrint Portal™ is an extension of our Patent Pending Voice Biometric Enterprise Solution. It builds upon our market-proven technology to protect personal and corporate information from fraudulent activities and allows the enterprise IT manager flexibility in configuration and use. Most configurations consist of multiple systems, and protection of multiple devices.
The VoicePrint Portal™ passwords are verbal, hereafter labeled a “VoicePrint”, each of which is as unique and distinct as a written “Password.” Authentication is based on both VoicePrint content (the actual phrase being spoken) and the speaker’s voice characteristics. This combination eliminates the possibility of password theft, while increasing the security of simple voice biometric matching. It also makes verification fast and easy, increasing the acceptance of this security feature among corporate and consumer users.
This security system consists of the following components; a Java Applet, Midlet, or Telephony application on a computing device, a back-end application server, and a central database repository, such as MySQL or MS SQL. The Java application accesses the back-end application server via a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) connection through the Internet or Intranet and sends the User ID and VoicePrint for authentication. The back-end application server then processes this information by communicating and comparing the stored VoicePrint on the central database repository. It then connects via a SSL connection to our Integration Partner's back-end computer system and tries to authenticate the user. The Integration Partner’s back-end computer system then allows or denies access for the user. Finally, the back-end application server connects via a SSL connection to the running Java application and redirects the device or system access based on success or failure of the users authentication.
The User Experience
An enterprise employee or end consumer enrolls his/her voice by speaking a VoicePrint phrase (such as “My name is John Smith”) into a microphone connected to a device (PC, PDA, Smartphone, Cell phone, or regular phone). This is normally a web based computer system managed by the IT manager, or our VoicePrint Portal™ web site.
When a device or system is accessed, the Java application will prompt the user for their enrolled User ID and VoicePrint phrase. The user then speaks their VoicePrint phrase into an attached or built-in microphone. The VoicePrint Portal™ solution then runs this recorded VoicePrint phrase through a proprietary algorithm to determine the VoicePrint’s characteristics. The system will then match this with the characteristics of the stored VoicePrint, which was provided during enrollment, using any kind of Internet connection: high-speed network, dial-up, wireless, 3G cellular telephony, satellite, VOIP, and or Bluetooth. This process requires approximately three to five seconds from initiation to completion.
If authenticated, the VoicePrint Portal™ will inform the back-end systems on what device or system(s) can unlock itself for the user. If the VoicePrint is rejected, the device or system(s) will remain locked.
